During hurricanes, building entrances face rainfall, high pressure winds, and flying debris. With this force, regular doors and windows may give way, creating an imbalance of pressure. Tested with multiple rounds, including firing wood from a pressurized canon at the products, our Miami Dade certified aluminum hurricane impact doors are robust and high-quality to help keep buildings safe.

What Makes Hurricane-Proof Doors Different?

Whether hurricane proof garage doors or hurricane impact double front doors, hurricane resistant products differ from regular doors and windows in being stronger and purpose-made to withstand severe weather. The following special features are unique to the products:

Impact-Resistant Glazing

Our Reynaers hurricane-proof sliding glass doors are both aesthetically pleasing and functional. Available in bespoke dimensions, they feature elegant full-glass panels, providing beautiful views out. The generous amount of glass in protective hurricane safety products is possible due to their high-quality structure.

While regular glass doors have glazing with air between panes, our Reynaers sliding exterior hurricane doors can feature laminated glass with five invisible interlayers of strong PVB polymer film. The glazing can then also be tempered to increase its flexibility upon impact.

The complex consistency of glass used in hurricane doors reduces the risk of breakage and protects buildings during severe weather.

Extra Water Resistance

CP 155 and Hi-Finity, our aluminum lift and slide doors, that are hurricane impact certified are supplied by the trusted European door supplier and manufacturer, Reynaers. The profiles are different to those used in regular products as they have undergone tests to determine excellent water tightness and meet strict requirements. The profiles, for example, feature a special built-in water drainage system equipped with pressure compensating holes as a unique solution for doors in hurricane zones.

Reinforced, Durable Door Frames

Sliding doors which only feature impact resistant glass placed in standard frames may not be sturdy enough to remain intact during hurricanes. Rather, purpose-made hurricane impact frames and profiles are needed. Capable of withstanding high pressure and made from durable thick aluminum, Reynaers profiles used in hurricane doors from Neuffer ensure open full-glass door design meets safety.

Certified to Meet Current Regulations

US states, such as Florida and North Carolina, lie in hurricane prone areas where new buildings and renovations often have to meet regulations. Hurricane impact exterior doors from Neuffer are Miami Dade, Florida certified (NOA No.18-1226.01 [13.08.25]) and have passed wind pressure and water penetration tests.

Further Benefits

Along with protection against flying debris, water, and high pressure, the complex multi-layered make-up of our hurricane lift and slide doors offers additional advantages:

Superb Sound and Thermal Insulation

Due to their complex structures, hurricane impact entry doors are great sound insulators, reducing noise coming from outside so you can enjoy light interiors in comfort and peace. Thick glazing also ensures excellent thermal insulation, reducing heat loss and stabilizing inside temperatures year-round, allowing you to benefit from great energy-efficiency and reduced heating costs.

Impact Doors with Superior Security

Hurricane high impact doors are also very secure products with a minimum burglar resistance class of RC3. The thick glass is impact-resistant so that, even in the event of potential breakage from high force, the polymer foil interlayers remain intact.

These require special tools to break through and hold glass in place, preventing it from shattering out.

Additional hinges built into strong sliding hurricane exterior doors also cause issues for intruders who may try to pry doors from their frames.

Increased Building Value and Savings on Insurance

Installing high quality hurricane impact doors can come with initial expense. However, given their protective importance, long-term cost savings can be made. Buildings with hurricane rated front doors often lead to lower insurance costs in the US and can qualify for certain state subsidies.
