Tilt and Slide Patio Doors

One Door, Two Opening Options

Request a quote

Produce elegant glass fronts and bring the outside in with our tilt and slide patio doors. By setting the user-friendly handle to two different positions, the sash can either be lent inwards or fully slid across a fixed panel. This allows for differing degrees of air supply and is a space-saving alternative to traditional doors that swing open on hinges. At Neuffer, tilt and slide products can be custom-made to suit whatever your project calls for. With our wide range of frame materials, colors, and purpose-designed glazing, the choice is yours.

The Tilt and Slide Function Explained

  • Closed
When the handle points upwards, the door is closed. All quality pins are secured within the durable locking plates. The handle can also be locked with a key.
  • Tilted
Once the handle is turned by 90°, the top of the operable sash leans out of the frame into the interior on extended scissor fittings. At the bottom it remains fixed to the frame. Subtle yet consistent ventilation is provided as well as good break-in protection.
  • Turned
If the handle is turned down further, the bottom fittings unlock, and the operable panel extends out of the frame onto a smooth rail to be slid horizontally over the fixed panel. A generous opening is created, and much air can flow in.

The Key Benefits of a Tilt and Slide Door

  • Space-saving solution for a generous opening: Because a tilt and slide sash or sashes slide over the fixed panel(s), little additional space is taken up in the interior when the door is open.
  • Flexible ventilation options: With the option to have the operable panel tilt ajar by around 15° or rather be slid across, a slight cross-breeze or fuller airing are both possible to meet different conditions and customer requirements
  • User-friendly operation: The door can be easily tilted, turned open, and closed with a gentle turn of the handle. Durable rails and quality extending fittings also ensure a smooth glide.
  • Thanks to our quality seals, innovative frame materials, and double or triple glazing featuring a low-e coating, excellent thermal performance can be achieved.
  • Enhanced security options: Our patio products come with good standard security which can then be improved by opting for a higher number of locking points or laminated safety glass.

Find the Right Frame Material

Tilt and slide patio doors can come with vinyl, wood, aluminum clad wood, or aluminum vinyl frames. Because each option brings its own unique benefits, the decision comes down to customer requirements and preferences. Where vinyl is often the most affordable and insulating, wood brings a natural sturdiness and bespoke patterns, for example. To find out more just click below.

Benefit from Impressive Insulation & Security

Our sliding doors feature generous glass surfaces to provide much natural light. Because the glazing takes up a large surface area, it should be of high quality and plays a key role in the product's energy efficiency. Our patio doors feature double glazing as a standard option, for example, which consists of two panes with the space between them filled with inert argon gas. A low-e coating is also applied to the surface to reflect infrared radiation. To further improve thermal performance, triple glazing can then be used which has an additional third pane. This thicker glass further prevents energy from being lost via conduction.

Because patio doors are commonly installed at ground floor level, good security is also important. In their basic configuration, our sliding patio solutions feature durable metal locking points and fittings to achieve sufficient break-in protection. For customers who wish to enhance this, a greater number of locking points can then be selected and the glass adapted.

During manufacturing the glazing can undergo a lamination process, for example. Here invisible polymer foil interlayers are added between panes. They increase the impact resistance of the glass, making it harder to break. If the panel does crack though under very high force, the shards will remain held on the foil and won't shatter out. Tearing the foil then requires extra tools.
